Team HPRU speak at student led conference on antimicrobial resistance
Dr Raheelah Ahmad and Esmita Charani gave a talk on Behaviour Change at a student led conference on antimicrobial resistance last weekend
Last weekend as part of World Antibiotic Awareness Week, Dr Raheelah Ahmad and Esmita Charani represented the Health Protection Research Unit in HCAIs and AMR at the Antimicrobial Resistance Students Conference: Advocating Behavioural Change last weekend at King’s College London.
This conference was organised by students for students and showed great initiative in raising awareness on antimicrobial resistance. The programme speakers included HPRU theme lead Dr Susan Hopkins and our colleague Dr Diane Ashiru-Oredope at Public Health England who presented a workshop with Esmita and Raheelah on ‘How to Run a Public Health Campaign’.
Esmita and Raheelah also jointly delivered a talk on ‘Optimising antibiotic use - behaviour change approaches’ and invited members of the audience to play the HPRU’s Antibiotic Play Your Cards Right game. Esmita said that the conference was a ‘fantastic initiative run by students for students’.
