Seven new academic staff join Imperial and the QuEST centre
Imperial welcomed academic staff members new to the QuEST centre with a reception and dinner at The Polish Club on the 27th November.
Imperial is proud to welcome seven new academic members of staff to the College, all working in the field of quantum science and technology research. The reception on the 27th took the form of research pitches, and lively discussions continued over dinner afterwards.
Joining the QOLS group in the Physics department, Steve Kolthammer and Michael Vanner will be working on quantum photonics and quantum nanomechanics respectively. Also new to the Physics department, Riccardo Sapienza is joining the Experimental Solid State Group to continue his work on quantum nano photonics. The Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics group will be welcoming Johannes Knolle to work on quantum materials and, also in the theory department, Florian Mintert will be continuing his work at Imperial on quantum theory.
Meanwhile in the Electrical Engineering Department, Cong Ling commences his research in the field of post-quantum cryptography, and Mario Berta joins the Computing Department to conduct research into quantum communications theory.
