First author paper published in Chemical Communications

Julia Thomas carried out her MSci project in the group of Dr Yuval Elani, working on a synthetic biology approach for constructing designer vesicles. By inserting transmembrane proteins into membranes, and using pore-blockers as molecular regulators for cargo release, she was able to construct vesicles with programmable release kinetics. This approach could be used to modulate release of drugs in vivo, and to control reaction rates in artificial cell reactors. This work led to a first author publication for Julia in Chemical Communications:
