The new year has started with a hive of activity for Dr Enrique Castro-Sanchez, Wellcome Trust ISSF Faculty Fellow and Lead Research Nurse at the NIHR Health Protection Research unit in HCAIs and AMR.
Dr Castro-Sanchez has been elected as member of the European Academy of Nursing Science (EANS), an organisation highlighting individuals who have made significant contributions to the advancement of nursing in Europe and with the aim of providing inspiration, collaboration and academic leadership in nursing science. The Academy facilitates the Summer School for European nurses conducting PhD studies, as well as winter meetings across different European locations so nurse researchers can debate about and progress European nursing. Enrique will be speaking about his analysis of citizen participation on European AMR policies at the Winter Summit held at the University of Turku, Finland on 26th January.
Enrique was recently appointed as Expert Adviser for the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence's Centre for Guidelines until 2020, giving advice on new evidence, participating in committees as a topic specialist member, and performing peer reviews. He will focus on infection prevention and control topics.
Finally, Enrique was just awarded a Doctoral Thesis Prize by the University of Alicante (Spain), recognizing the contribution of his doctoral research. The award offers a reimbursement of the PhD fees.
