Winners of the 2017 American Astronautical Society Awards announced
LISAPathfinder has been announced as one of the Winners of 2017 American Astronautical Society Awards.
Space Technology Award – Paul McNamara and the LISA Pathfinder Team for “leadership of the international LISA Pathfinder team, which delivered and operated a novel spacecraft that clearly demonstrated that a space-based observatory of gravitational waves is within our technical reach.” This award was established to recognize an outstanding achievement in space technology.
The current Physics Department team is Jonathon Baird, Daniel Hollington and Tim Sumner, but past members include Peter Wass, Diana Shaul, Markus Schulte, Simon Wasckhe, Christian Trenkel and Geoff Rochester. Parts of the flight hardware from Imperial were made within both the departmental Mechanical and Electrical Workshops.
