Chemical Engineering alumni welcomed back for Imperial Festival 2018
The Department of Chemical Engineering hosted an Alumni Reception as part of Imperial Festival 2018.
This year's Alumni Reception took place on Saturday 28 April, as part of the Imperial Festival. We were joined by alumni from several graduating classes for an afternoon of refreshments, games and tours.
The afternoon began with an introductory talk from Professor Nilay Shah, Head of Department, who gave an overview of the department's history and some of its recent achievements.
Guests were then invited to join us in the Senior Common Room for refreshments, and games for the children. Our team of student staff led mini-experiments and Professor Erich Muller demonstrated how to make ice cream using dry ice and a fire extinguisher.
Tours were led by our undergraduate helpers and supported by a team of Graduate Teaching Assistants who held talks and demonstrations in the Undergraduate Lab. In addition to this, Dr Colin Hale also provided an overview of the Pilot Plant.
Thanks to all staff and guests for a wonderful afternoon, we hope to see many of our returning alumni at next year's reception!
