The Department of Computing's Dr Fidelis Perkonigg has taken home award at the Student Academic Choice Awards.

First launched in 2012, the Student Academic Choice Awards (SACAs) are Imperial College Union's flagship event for empowering students to recognise, reward and celebrate excellence amongst College staff.

Eight awards in total cover all faculties, departments and campuses, as well as all modes of study – undergraduate, taught postgraduate and doctoral research. Every student at Imperial will have the chance to recognise the innovation, skill, engagement and energy of the staff they learn with.

Nominated by currently studying Master's Postgraduates, the Department of Computing's Dr Fidelis Perkonigg triumphed in the category 'Best Teaching for Postgraduates'. In this particular award excellence for teaching is categorised by enthusiasm, use of original and accessible teaching method and clarity of learning. One of the nominees cited Dr Perkonigg as 'a rare breed', 'competent in his field and supremely empathetic'. Dr Perkonigg said the win came as a surprise but was very special.
