HPRU receives award and recognition for societal engagement at President's Award
The annual awards recognise individuals and teams who have made outstanding contributions in Education, Research or Societal Engagement
Congratulations to HPRU team members Juliet Allibone, Head of Operations, and Fran Husson, Patient and Public representative who were recognised as part of this year's President's Awards for Excellence.
Juliet Allibone was highly commended in the category "The Leadership Award for Societal Engagement" for staff who have demonstrated an on-going commitment to societal engagement; bringing enthusiasm and innovation to this area and actively supporting other staff and students to get involved. This year saw Juliet launch three new interactive activities showcasing the breadth of HPRU’s multi disciplinary research. The activities Build a Bug, Play your Cards Right and Antibiotic Arms Race were a huge success at this year’s Imperial Festival and the latter two were showcased at the Science Museum Lates within the Superbugs Zone.
Patient and Public Representative for HPRU, Fran Husson was winner of the prestigious "Inspirational Partner Award for Societal Engagement " for individuals or teams outside Imperial who have made outstanding contributions that inspire and support us in the achievement of one or more of our societal engagement aims.
Fran is actively involved in the development of engagement events including a hand hygiene lesson that has been delivered in schools as well as an Antibiotic Amnesty for College staff and students to coincide with World Antibiotic Awareness Week. Fran also consistently supports other HPRU efforts to ensure appropriate patient and public engagement by supporting our researchers.
