Vilar group success at Chemistry Postgraduate Symposium
The Vilar group won two prizes at the annual Chemistry Department Postgraduate Symposium.
The annual Chemistry Department Postgraduate Symposium gives students the opportunity to present their work to the rest of the department, with second-year PhD students presenting posters and third-year PhD students giving talks.
Group members Carmen and Tiffany both presented posters in the Chemical Biology section, with Carmen winning the best poster and Tiffany the runner-up. As the winner in the Chemical Biology section, Carmen's poster was then put into a competition with the winning posters from each of the other sections and succeeded in winning best poster in the department.
In addition to the posters, Caitlin presented her work as the first talk of the day in the Chemical Biology section. Her presentation on the role of triplex DNA in the neurological condition Friedreich's ataxia was very well received and provoked interesting questions and discussion with the audience present.
Congratulations to Carmen, Tiffany and Caitlin for their terrific performances!
