Recent graduate Aileen Cooney is off to Japan to further her career

Recent graduate Aileen Cooney (MSci with Prof Sophia Yaliraki) has been awarded a Daiwa Scholarship by the Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation. This Scholarship is a programme of language study, work placement and homestay in Japan that offers the opportunity to acquire Japanese language skills, and to access expertise and knowledge from Chemistry researchers based in Japan. Having studied Japanese for several years and lived in Tokyo prior to University, Aileen is looking forward to returning to Japan and gaining career experience in the process. Fellow Imperial graduates Graham Davies (Dept. Mechanical Engineering) and Vikram Jayaswal (Dept. Life Sciences) will also be moving to Tokyo in September as Daiwa Scholars 2018. The careers service will be hosting a presentation from the Foundation sometime in the Autumn Term for those interested.  The closing date for 2019 applications is Thursday 6th December 2018.
