From Monday 1 October the level 1 Group Study area at the Central Library will be temporarily closed for essential book moves.
While the area is closed books and DVDs currently available on level 1 will be moved to levels 2 and 3 in preparation for reopening these floors. Levels 2 and 3 will remain closed during this time however, in order to ensure that as many items are available as possible, Library Services have put the following measures in place:
- Key books (from classmarks 0-539) which are currently available on level 1 will be available the core text area next to the Information Hub.
- Library staff will operate a fetching service, once a day, for other books and DVDs from level 1 (subject to availability of items). These items will be marked unavailable on Library Search, simply sign in to request an item and Library Services will email you when it is available for collection.
Books on levels 4 and 5 will not be affected by these moves and all books will be available from the week beginning Monday 15 October when levels 2 and 3 reopen.
From the week beginning Monday 15 October levels 2 and 3 will open as refurbished silent study spaces with climate control and levels 4 and 5 will be reallocated as quiet study spaces.
