Imperial’s Global Online MBA wins award in international education competition
Imperial College Business School scooped a Silver award for Business Education at this year’s QS Reimagine Education conference.
The Business School won the award for its pioneering and unique Global Online MBA degree in the Business Education category at a conference in San Francisco.
Reimagine Education is an international competition which awards innovative education initiatives that aim to enhance student learning outcomes and employability. 16 awards are given out at a ceremony dubbed as the ‘Oscars’ of Education’ to organisations who are committed to reshaping the future of education.
The Business Education category recognises projects that successfully improve learning outcomes, the delivery of teaching, and/or employability outcomes for those undertaking an MBA, executive education qualification, or another form of business and management education.
Imperial was the only UK business school to receive an award this year out of 1,184 projects submitted from 39 countries for the 16 award categories, which are evaluated by 160 international judges.
“It’s wonderful to be recognised as a global leader in teaching innovation." Leila Guerra Associate Dean of Programmes, Business School
Imperial’s Global Online MBA is a two year online MBA degree that was launched at Imperial College Business School in 2015 to meet the growing demand for online MBA degrees.
The content, which was developed by the Business School’s faculty, together with Imperial’s Edtech Lab, a team led by Dr David Lefevre, builds on the success of Imperial’s three other on-campus MBA degrees and is delivered via The Hub, a bespoke online platform. The Hub has previously been shortlisted for two prestigious awards and the programme has achieved a high level of student satisfaction.
Dr Paolo Taticchi, Programme Director of the Global Online MBA said: "This award recognises our leadership in designing pedagogical innovation for online education."
In the QS 2018 Online MBA rankings, Imperial’s Global Online MBA degree was ranked first in the UK, third globally and second for employability. The Silver award was given to a team from Imperial following a showcase presentation given by the Global Online MBA Programme Director, Dr Paolo Taticchi at the Reimagine Education Conference and Awards in San Francisco. Imperial was also shortlisted for its Undergraduate BPES programme for the e-learning award category.
Leila Guerra, Associate Dean of Programmes at Imperial College Business School said: “I’m delighted to extend my warmest congratulations to everyone on the Global Online MBA and the Edtech team for this well-deserved recognition. I’d also like to thank Dr Paolo Taticchi for his powerful pitch to attendees, showcasing the Business School’s innovative methodology in front of our international competitors.
“It’s wonderful to be recognised as a global leader in teaching innovation. This award reflects the pioneering work of our faculty and Edtech Lab in creating a unique degree programme that uses transformational approaches to enhance student learning outcomes and employability. In the words of QS Reimagine, this programme truly raises the bar for online MBA’s.”
