CMBI student takes first prize for antibiotic research

CMBI Student Akshay Sabnis, wins first prize in the 3-minute thesis competition

Akshay Sabnis, a PhD student in the Edwards group, won first prize in the 3-minute thesis competition held as part of the Department of Medicine’s ‘Rising Scientist’ day. Akshay’s research has shed new light on how the antibiotic colistin kills bacteria, raising the prospect of new strategies to help increase the efficacy of this therapeutic of last resort. He was presented with his prize by Professor Kevin Murphy, Director of Postgraduate studies for the Department of Medicine.  Well done Akshay.
