Careers Summer PhD Focus
During May and June 2019, the Careers Service will be launching the Careers Summer PhD Focus: a series of careers events aimed at PhD students.
Figuring out what to do after your PhD can be difficult and daunting. But there are many options open to PhD holders: academia of course, but also consultancy, careers in finance, technology, and much, much more.
And no matter what stage of your PhD you’re in, it is never too early or too late to develop the skills and explore the options that will help you launch a successful career. With that in mind, the careers service is launching the Careers Summer PhD Focus. Designed specifically for PhD students, these, fairs, sessions, and employer-led workshops will help you gain a better understanding of the career options available to you, and how the skills and knowledge gained during your PhD can apply to various industries.
Here are just some of the workshops and events on offer:
Research Careers Forum - Thursday 23 May, 18.30 - 20.30
Whether you're interested in a career in academia, industrial research or exploring options beyond, then this panel discussion is for you! Through the insights and conversations with a variety of PhD graduates, we aim to help you understand the challenges and pathways to success; wherever your career may lead!
Organised by the Careers Service, this event will give you the chance to hear from academic staff and industry professionals talk about their own personal career development and the challenges, and rewards, of using their PhD and various skills in a number of different contexts.

PhD Careers Fair - Thursday 9 May
The Imperial Careers Service's PhD Careers Fair will be held in the Marquee on the Queen's Lawn on Thursday 9 May. Running from 17:00 until 19:30 and specifically aimed at Imperial PhD students, the event gives you the chance to find out about opportunities available to PhDs in order to help you make an informed decision about the path you take once you graduate.
