PhD student Franz Richter (Hazelab group) is the winner of the 2019 Lloyd's Register Foundation ‘Student Communicator of the Year’ competition.
The competition was only open to students who are funded by or working on projects supported by Lloyd’s Register Foundation (LR). In 2018, Franz was awarded the Dr Ashraf Ben El-Shanawany Memorial Prize, supported by LR.
For the first round of the competition, participants produced 50-second videos explaining their work, with the top six proceeding to the final.
The finalists were invited to attend the LR International Conference on 9-10 October 2019, where they had to present their research on stage for 4 minutes each, and Franz was chosen as the winner.
