Imperial Computing PhD student receives 2021 J.P. Morgan PhD Fellowship
The goal of JPMC AI Research is to advance cutting-edge AI research in areas of relevance to industry.
Neema Kotonya, PhD student at the Department of Computing, under the supervision of Professor Francesca Toni has received a 2021 J.P. Morgan PhD Fellowship.
The JPMC AI Research PhD Fellowship program is intended to support novel and impactful thesis work of PhD students and enables opportunities for PhD students to engage with research professionals at JPMC. A JPMC PhD Fellowship includes a yearly award that supports tuition and a stipend. Student awardees will receive a connection in the JPMC AI Research team.
Neema received an MEng in Computer Science from University College London. She is committed to STEM outreach, and serves as a governor at a London primary school. Neema also sits on the committee for the United Kingdom Linguistics Olympiad. In her free time, she enjoys reading and exploring the outdoors.
Neema's research interests lie at the intersection of explainable AI and natural language processing. More specifically, her research focuses on extending the pipeline for automated fact verification. Her research looks at extracting explanations for veracity predictions and evaluating the usefulness of these explanations.
