Imperial has launched a new scholarship for Master’s students worth up to £10,000, to recognise individuals with strong leadership potential.
The scholarship has been launched in partnership with the Bright Network – a dedicated network for connecting students and graduates with opportunities, insights and advice to succeed as the workforce of tomorrow.
This is the first scholarship provided by the Bright Network for UK university programmes, and will be focused on all 13 Masters programmes at Imperial College Business School, beginning in September 2021, including the flagship MSc International Management and the MSc Finance.
The scholarship is available for anyone who is a member of the Bright Network and candidates will have to show strong professional, or community experience, leadership potential, a clear career plan and academic merit in their application.
"The Bright Network is an important partner to Imperial College Business School, particularly from the perspective of welcoming a highly diverse set of backgrounds and experiences to our MSc programmes." Joel McConnell Executive Director of Marketing, Recruitment & Admissions, Business School
Joel McConnell, Executive Director of Marketing, Recruitment & Admissions at Imperial College Business School, said: “With more than 400,000 members, the Bright Network is an important partner to Imperial College Business School, particularly from the perspective of welcoming a highly diverse set of backgrounds and experiences to our MSc programmes.
“Student excellence is essential to the admissions process at Imperial, but so is ensuring that as an institution, we are focusing on including historically underrepresented student profiles in our incoming cohorts. The students that come to Imperial expect to be studying with other talented and ambitious people, and we have decided to offer scholarships to Bright Network members because of the outstanding applicant profiles we’ve seen from the organisation, and the contributions they make to the broader student experience at our institution.”
The application deadline for the scholarship is 1 March 2021 for all Master’s programmes, except the MSc Finance and MSc International Management, for which the application deadline is 17 February 2021.
James Uffindell, CEO & Founder of Bright Network, said: “We’re very excited to be working with Imperial College Business School on this initiative and it’s a great next step for our partnership. Our common mission to support young people and drive forward social mobility is so important at this challenging time.
“For our members from backgrounds under-represented in professional careers, this scholarship provides a unique opportunity for them to be part of a world-leading institution, develop core business skills and fulfil their future potential. We can’t wait to offer it to them.”
Imperial also currently offers an application fee waiver for applications from Bright Network Members to their Master’s programmes.
This scholarship is a continuation of the work that the Bright Network does, connecting students with employers, and also increasing their knowledge, insight and opportunities in the graduate workplace.
