Three new Heads of Department have been appointed to start later in 2021.

Commencing 5 year terms are:

• Professor Tina van de Flierdt, Department of Earth Science and Engineering (from 1 August 2021)
• Professor Omar Matar, Department of Chemical Engineering (from 1 October 2021)
• Professor Washington Ochieng, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (from 1 September 2021)

Commenting on the appointments, Professor Nigel Brandon, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering said “I would like to congratulate Tina, Washington and Omar on their appointments. I know that each of them has the strong support of colleagues within their Department, and I am looking forward to working with them. I would also like to thank Professors Mark Sephton, Nick Buenfeld, and Nilay Shah for all of their hard work as current Heads of Department.”
