Learning through online platforms can be an affordable and flexible way to learn a variety of technical and transferrable skills to advance your career in your own time.
Whether you are interested in learning a new skill to add to your CV, to help you with your degree or because you have some extra time, start searching for your perfect course on the below platforms.
LinkedIn Learning
Every student at Imperial has free access to LinkedIn Learning where you can search a huge library of video courses taught by industry experts in software, creative, and business skills. Book your place on a free course for some self-directed study alongside your degree and increase your employability skills.
Microsoft Learn
Microsoft Learn is another free online learning platform, focusing more on technical skills. Users can search skills, pathways and job functions to find their most suitable course. Discover new skills, receive certifications, and advance your career in minutes with interactive, hands-on learning.
Other learning platforms
Students can also consider online learning through a MOOC (a massive open online course) who cover a range of short courses on a variety of subject areas. The largest providers of MOOC are Coursera, Udacity, EDX and Future Learn.
Course content is often free and self-paced for those interested in learning a skill alongside their job or degree. Some MOOC courses do have charges so check carefully before you make any payments to ensure you are making a good investment.
