Taste Imperial refurbishes flagship catering outlets on campus
Taste Imperial have embarked on a comprehensive refurbishment programme of some of the College’s flagship catering outlets.
Following the refurbishment of the Sir Alexander Fleming Cafe and its relaunch as 'The Loud Bird' in November 2020, Taste Imperial have embarked on a comprehensive refurbishment programme of some of the College’s flagship catering outlets, including The College Cafe, Wolfson Restaurant, The Library Cafe, and many other smaller outlets across campus.
I had a vision and goal for each outlet to have its own unique identity and to offer students an experience of different cuisine in each area of the College and across all campuses. Kamil Khoury Head of Catering and Events
The refurbishments include a dramatic overhaul to the layout of each outlet, offering entirely renewed and modernised dining spaces for staff and students, alongside an exciting new food offering influenced by the diverse cultural identity of modern London.
The newly refurbished outlets follow the reinvention of the Taste Imperial brand itself, which launched earlier this year. Head of Catering and Events, Kamil Khoury, said “Since I started at Imperial in 2018, I had a vision and goal for each outlet to have its own unique identity and to offer students an experience of different cuisine in each area of the College and across all campuses. The vision was also to give the students a relaxing environment to eat and study in and I do think that we are achieving this. I’m excited about what’s more to come!”
In addition to the significant changes that have been made to each outlets physical space, The Library Café has also adapted their menu, tapping into new food trends while also ensuring that they are offering a wide selection of choice to meet the changing needs and wants of Imperial students.
This includes introducing a new artisan deli bar, serving hot and cold baguettes, as well as offering a special daily menu, some of which include vegetarian and international dishes.
The new outlet features an immersive food court style counter space where various food concepts from different outlets offered in the South Kensington campus are rotated and served on a regular basis. This ensures that their Hammersmith staff and students are not missing out on the diverse offering that currently exist on the South Kensington campus.
Taste Imperial plan to continue to redevelop their outlets, including introducing a new Indian street food inspired offer in h-bar, which will be available from January 2022. Moreover, there are plans in place to entirely transform the former JCR Deli into a smoothie and dessert bar, which is scheduled to open next year.
