FoNS at the Great Exhibition Road Festival 2022!

A jam-packed Great Exhibition Road Festival celebrated the arts and sciences across South Kensington, and saw FoNS researchers get creative.

This year saw the welcome return of an in-person Great Exhibition Road Festival (plus activities online!), as visitors of all ages spent their weekend exploring trailblazing in science and the arts. Staff and students from across the Faculty of Natural Sciences got involved in the fun too...

Story time

Theoretical physicist, Professor Claudia de Rham, took to the family performance stage to share stories about rainbows, gravity, the colours of the universe, and the very foundations of nature itself! 

Plus our Comms team were happy to explore some sweet, sweet physics feats taking place elsewhere...


Climate-conscious cooking

What else is on the menu...? Imperial's Grantham Institute and Centre for Environmental Policy got creative in the kitchen with a climate-friendly cook-off and top tips for sustainable, budget-friendly nosh.

And Grantham's fantastic upcycling fashion surgery saw visitors hone their sewing skills, exploring mending techniques and natural dye sampling, plus tips on understanding and modifying fabrics, and simple but effective reconstruction ideas, giving their clothes a new lease of life.



Pollinating prowess 

Silwood Park (and friends!) brought their bee and butterfly expertise to South Kensington for the Festival, to celebrate fabulous pollinators across the natural world:
