Good results for Imperial students in IMechE Design Challenge
Congratulations to first year Mechanical Engineering students for their performance in the IMechE Design Challenge Greater London Region Final 2022.
Imperial Team A (comprised of Juan Bustos Lopez, Aarya Banthia, Ernest Ng and Steven Furlong) won the presentation award, while Team B (Kenton Wong, Dilys Yeung, Zara Sharpe-Dai, Minjae Kim, Wai Tham, Tyler Stewart) finished third overall.
The Design Challenge run by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers gives first and second year undergraduates a taste of ‘real world’ engineering, challenging them to design, create, present and run a device to a strict technical specification.
The 2022 project was to build a line launcher. Teams were tasked to produce a small-scale indoor device, to fire a squash ball attached to a line, at a horizontal target, from various distances. Find out more about the competition from the IMechE website
