The South Kensington Kai alumni group held their AGM in November 2007

Annual General Meeting and Party of South Kensington Kai

The South Kensington Kai (SKK), Imperial College Alumni Association in Japan, held its Annual General Meeting and Party on 17 November 2007 at the British Embassy in Tokyo.

Professor Masato Tanaka, President of the SKK for 9 years, chaired the general meeting which includes activities and financial reports since previous meeting in November 2006. Prof. Tanaka retired from his presidential position of SKK by this meeting and Professor Shunichi Nakamura has been elected as the new president.

After the meeting, a special lecture by Mr. Chris Pook, Counselor of British Embassy, also IC alumnus (Biochemistry 1992), entitled “150 years of Science and Innovation” was made. His interesting talk covered history in technological relations between UK and Japan for 150 years since diplomatic relation commenced in1858, as well as innovations taking place at UK in recent years. He summarized his talk proposing tighter UK/Japan communications for next 150 years. Then, a party was hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Pook at their residence in the Embassy. Around 40 attendees enjoyed British wine together with memories from their time at Imperial College.
