Industry partners visit for Electrochemistry Network Industry Day
The Electrochemistry Network recently held an industry networking day on Friday 23 September.
The Electrochemistry Network are a 400+ community across multiple departments at Imperial College London. Dr Ifan Stephens, Dr Anna Hankin and Dr Clotilde Cucinotta and Mengnan Wang led the organisation of a new industry event.
This was the first industrial event held by the network, in collaboration with external industry partners BP-ICAM, Ceres Power, Johnson Matthey, Metrohm, COMSOL and Nanopore. Industrial partners BP-ICAM, Johnson Matthey, Ceres and Oxford Nanopore generously provided funding for poster prizes and refreshments on the day, as well as equipment suppliers Alvatak and Metrohm and software developer COMSOL.
The day consisted of technical talks by industry partners, including RFC Power, Ceres Power, Johnson Matthey, Bramble Energy, Breathe Battery Technologies and BP, in addition to a poster prize competition for Research Postgraduate students.
Dr Ifan Stephens, Reader in Electrochemistry in the Department of Materials, Faculty of Engineering said: “The event was the first time Imperial College’s Electrochemistry Network’s burgeoning community - consisting of more than 350 postdoctoral and postgraduate researchers and 60 academic staff - collectively reached out to the outside world.
Electrochemistry is making enormous inroads into up-and-coming technologies, including biosensing, batteries, electrolysers and fuel cells. At Imperial, we are spearheading the transition into these nascent industrial applications, as evident by the five presentations from our spinouts. Not only did the event provide industrial partners with the opportunity to inspire our community, but it also - through the 40 plus poster presentations - showcased the wealth of exciting research occurring here.”

- Best Engineering and Devices Poster winner, Jatuporn Banjong supervised by Dr Anna Hankin.
