The project focused on the development of macrocyclic peptide-based inhibitors and probes for CD59 that have dual potential applications: as adjuvants to monoclonal antibodies in cancer therapy and anti-virulence agent in gram-positive bacterial infection.
This work was done in collaboration with Dr Doryen Bubeck (Life Sciences, Imperial College London), Prof. Akane Kawamura (Newcastle University), and funded by the Islamic Development Bank Scholarship. Thank you to everyone for their support.
The viva voce examination was conducted by Prof. David Spring (University of Cambridge) and Dr Louise Walport (Imperial College London). Thank you also to both the examiners.
Well done Dr Ahmed!
