School of Public Health staff recognised as part of 25th anniversary awards
School of Public Health staff have received a number of awards and nominations as part of the Faculty of Medicine 25th Anniversary Celebrations.
Earlier this month the Faculty of Medicine celebrated its 25th Anniversary with a special evening of staff awards which recognised those who have significantly contributed to the Faculty since its formation.
Staff and teams were nominated by their colleagues, with community panels picking the overall winners across three main areas; Education, Community and Culture, and Research. Award winners, nominees, and the staff who put them forward for recognition were invited to a special event at the Queen's Tower Rooms in South Kensington.
Speaking at the awards, Professor Jonathan Weber, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, said: “The 25th Anniversary Awards have been a real reflection of staff across the entire Faculty.
“It has been hugely uplifting to read all those contributions and tonight we are celebrating not just the winners, but all those who were nominated and everyone who has had a positive contribution to the Faculty over the last 25 years. I want to thank all our staff and everyone here tonight for all you have done to get the Faculty where it is today.”
The School of Public Health was extremely well represented with a host of nominations and award winners from across the School.
Professor Deborah Ashby, Director of the School of Public Health, said: “I am so proud to see so many staff from the School of Public Health recognised for their contribution to the success of the Faculty of Medicine over the past 25 years. It is a testament to their hardwork and dedication."
We caught up with a few of the winners:
Lyndsey Pallant – Award Winner for Outstanding Research Support
Jennifer Wells – Award Winner for Administrative Support
“It was with a mixture of surprise and pride that I received the news of this Award. Having worked at Imperial for over 25 years, I have spent the majority of my working life as a PA here and I am hugely grateful for that opportunity. I have met many people and learned so much along the way. The work has often been challenging, always interesting and personally rewarding.”
Dr Constance Nyamukapa – Highly Commended for Outstanding Achievement through Collaborative Research
“It is a fantastic honour to be recognised like this. The award would not have been possible without a very dedicated, supportive, and wonderful team of collaborators at Imperial and from all around the world, who work tirelessly with us on various game changing projects. These projects have helped Zimbabwe define the trends and the sociodemographic impact of the HIV epidemic as well as led to the development of measures and methods to identify drivers and bottlenecks in HIV prevention. Due to their tremendous efforts, Zimbabwe is one of the success stories in terms of HIV decline in Southern Africa.”
