Bruno edited the volume alongside Elisabeth Honn Hoegberg of Oakland University, USA and Sonja Starkmeth of Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main, Germany.

The book is made up of chapters gathered under the themes of 'International Travel', 'Politics and National Identity', 'Class and Gender' and 'Genre Over Time'. With a range of contributors, some chapters explore familiar composers, such as Johann Strauss or Gilbert and Sullivan, while others examine less well-known works or composers. The collection is praised for both summarising the current state of the field and showcasing the many possible pathways for future scholars who wish to explore it.
