The Department of Materials held its annual Grand Reunion Alumni Dinner on Friday 10 May 2024.

Sixty-two alumni from the Department of Materials gathered at the Armourers' Hall last week for our Grand Reunion Alumni Dinner. The event marked a warm reunion for alumni who graduated between 1955 and 2023.

Professor Sandrine Heutz, Head of the Department of Materials, welcomed all attendees before they enjoyed a dinner together, rekindling old connections and meeting new friends. 

Professor Mary Ryan CBE FREng, Vice Provost for Research and Enterprise at Imperial College London and the Armourers and Brasiers' Chair for Materials Science, delivered the keynote address at this year's event. Throughout her speech, Professor Ryan shared more about her early love for science, recounted her journey into the discipline and reflected on her time at Imperial.

Attendees also gathered to celebrate the class of 1974, who marked their 50th anniversary since graduation. Several alumni from the class of 1974 were invited to speak at the dinner, recalling memories of university life in the 1970s and sharing their diverse career paths since graduating.

The evening closed with an opportunity for attendees to reconnect, network, and enjoy drinks in the spectacular Armourers' Hall.
