Tate group members presented their research at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory in Heidelberg

Drs Anne Schuhmacher, Tianze Zhang, Sarah Hassan, and Janine Gray attended alongside PhD student Thomas Maher presenting their research to the EMBO 2024 attendees. With Dr Janine Gray and Thomas Maher being awarded for best poster prizes. 

Janine’s work focuses on the development of small molecules that help resensitise bacteria to antibiotics through targeting of the NorA efflux pump. This strategy has been developed as a method to combat anti-microbial resistance (AMR).

Thomas’ work interrogates the interactome around G4-quadruplexes through photocatalytic proximity labelling. This strategy is thought to help identify G4- quadruplex interacting proteins in diseases.
