Engage with Imperial alumni today!

by Noemie Oster

Why not take advantage of the fantastic opportunities available to connect with alumni?

Did you know that once you finish your course at Imperial, you will become part of a community of more than 220,000 alumni all around the world?

This network is a powerful tool which you can use to explore your career possibilities and gain first-hand insights into roles or industries which you are considering.

Read on to find out about two amazing programmes, organised by our Internship Unit, through which you can engage with alumni.

Ask an Alum

Ask an Alum was relaunched in April 2024, providing an exclusive opportunity for Imperial College London students to connect, learn and develop valuable career insights from our extensive network of Imperial graduates.

The programme is hosted through Vygo. Simply create an account, answer a few questions and be matched to an alum profile. From there, start a one-to-one conversation or browse the other recommended profiles and connect with alumni that will help to shape your professional career journey.

Please read the full registration guidance and engagement etiquette found on the Ask an Alum webpage. If you have any questions about the programme, email askalum@imperial.ac.uk

The Alumni Mentoring Scheme

The Alumni Mentoring Scheme is an opportunity for current Imperial students to be mentored by a professional Imperial alumnus working in a chosen field of interest, or related profession. The aim of the scheme is to support the development of student employability through gaining an informed career insight and empowering students to achieve their career aims.

Mentoring partnerships for 2024/25 will officially run from December - April. Students and mentors work together with a minimum of four points of engagement. Applications for Alumni Mentoring will open in Autumn 2024. Register your interest via JobsLive to be notified.

If you have any questions about the Alumni Mentoring Scheme or application process, please contact the team on mentoring@imperial.ac.uk.

LinkedIn

LinkedIn is a social network and, of course, not run by the Careers Service. However, it is another great avenue for connecting with alumni.

Check out our LinkedIn webpage for more information and tips on networking with professionals via this platform.

As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch or book an appointment with one of our careers consultants.

We hope this first week has gone smoothly and wish you all the best for the rest of the autumn term!
