Consequently, we are excited to share the details of two wonderful academic opportunities taking place in Japan.
The Daiwa Scholarship
The Daiwa Scholarship is a unique 19-month programme of language study, work placement and homestay in Japan. This opportunity is open to British citizens recently graduated or due to graduate before September 2025 with a degree in any subject (except Japanese language studies).
No previous experience of Japan or Japanese is necessary.

The JSPS Summer Programme Fellowship
The JSPS Summer Programme Fellowship offers the opportunity for pre/postdoctoral researchers to pursue research under the guidance of host researchers at Japanese universities and research institutes. The programme takes place over two months and includes an orientation on Japanese language, culture and research systems.
Applicants should be British nationals and at the time the Summer Programme goes into effect either be enrolled in a PhD or MPhil course at a UK university or have obtained their PhD within the last 6 years (on or after 2 April 2019).
