Petex grant software for ESE students for 9th year in a row
PE Limited has once again granted software to the Department of Earth Science and Engineering, providing a valuable tool for teaching and research.
PE Ltd's state-of-the-art software is worth more than £4.5 million and significantly enhances ESE’s research capabilities, as well as supporting undergraduate teaching and PhD and MSc projects by allowing them to gain valuable hands-on experience with the latest industry tools.
The software includes 10 licences each of the IPM 64 Bit software suites and MOVE software suites. These provide a powerful suite of tools for the assessment of complex subsurface challenges.
By allowing researchers and students to integrate and model 2D and 3D surface and subsurface data for a variety of applications – from geological and geochemical to geophysical and geomechanical – it helps reduce uncertainty in geological models.
The software is a valuable tool in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes, and the Department is grateful for PE Ltd's support in enhancing our students’ learning experience.
