The Imperial Institute of Extended Learning is launching a suite of STEMB Undergraduate Summer Schools in July and August 2025.
Open to students worldwide, these programmes offer a unique opportunity to experience world-class teaching and research in the heart of London.
An Immersive Learning Experience
Designed primarily for undergraduate students in their second year or above, these intensive summer schools provide a challenging and enriching learning environment at one of the world’s top universities. Hosted at Imperial’s South Kensington campus, the programmes welcome both UK-based and international students.
Cutting-Edge Teaching in STEMB Subjects
Imperial’s summer schools focus on STEMB (Science, Technology, Engineering, Medicine, and Business), reflecting the university’s expertise and global reputation. Students will:
- Learn from leading academics and researchers
- Gain insights into the latest research and industry trends
- Engage in team-based learning and hands-on projects
Through interactive sessions and real-world applications, students will collaborate to solve complex challenges, enhancing both their subject knowledge and critical thinking skills. By the end of the programme, they will be able to apply these skills directly to their studies and future careers.
Betty Yue, Director of Professional Development and Summer Programmes at the Institute of Extended Learning, shared her excitement about the launch:
“We are thrilled to introduce Imperial’s Undergraduate Summer Schools, offering students from around the world the chance to immerse themselves in Imperial’s world-class academic environment. These programmes will not only deepen their subject knowledge but also equip them with valuable skills and insights into cutting-edge research and industry developments. It’s a fantastic opportunity for students to experience life at a top global university in the heart of London.”
Supporting Imperial’s Strategic Vision
These Undergraduate Summer Schools are part of the Institute of Extended Learning’s (IEL) aim to expand education beyond traditional degree programmes. Through summer schools and professional development courses, the IEL ensures that students at all stages have access to cutting-edge education. The creation of these summer schools aligns with Imperial’s broader strategy of fostering innovation and equipping learners with the skills to thrive in rapidly advancing fields such as AI, cleantech, deep tech, quantum, engineering biology and climate science.
Imperial has a long-standing commitment to delivering world-class summer learning opportunities. The launch of the Undergraduate Summer Schools builds on the success of Imperial’s existing summer programmes, which have welcomed thousands of students from across the globe. The Global Summer School for pre-university students has inspired the next generation of STEMB leaders, while postgraduate-level short courses have helped professionals gain new expertise in high-demand fields. By expanding the amount of available summer schools, Imperial continues to provide transformative educational experiences that support academic progression and career development.
A Global Experience in South Kensington
Beyond academics, students will have the opportunity to build global connections, enhance their career prospects and experience life at Imperial. Organised social activities will allow them to explore London’s cultural and historical landmarks, making for a well-rounded and unforgettable experience.
