Horizons alumnus commended in Ink of Ages competition

Joao Costa, Imperial Horizons creative writing student, was highly commended for his short story, 'Federico'.

An alumnus from Imperial Horizons module Advanced Creative Writing has been Highly Commended in the World History Encyclopaedia Ink of Ages Fiction Prize.

João Costa, who took Advanced Creative Writing in 2023-24 entered 'Federico', a short story he wrote and revised whilst on the Horizons module. The story is inspired by the Spanish Civil War.

The Ink of Ages Fiction Prize is an international short fiction competition focused on in historical or mythology-inspired writing. Sponsored by Oxford University Press, submissions must be in English and of up to 2,000 words in length. Scores are awarded for literary merit, originality and creativity, historical interest, and impact and enjoyment.
