In a groundbreaking move for women's health, Dr Chiara Board, an alumna of the ICB CDT, has launched a revolutionary product aimed at tackling some of the most common yet often overlooked health issues affecting women. After years of research and development, Dr Board’s company, P.Happi®, is now selling its first product – a serum designed to combat urinary tract infections (UTIs) and improve overall women's urinary health.
A persistent issue for many women, UTIs can cause severe discomfort and affect daily life. They are one of the most common bacterial infections among women, with millions of cases
reported annually. Despite the high frequency of UTIs, many women face challenges with treatment options that often come with side effects, including antibiotic resistance and recurrent infections. Board, who experienced her own struggles with UTIs, was inspired to create a solution that goes beyond just treating the symptoms.
“I was so frustrated with drinking cranberry juice, the discomfort and impact on my personal life - there is hardly any innovation in the space, always similar ingredients pulled together under a new brand. Let’s use science to serve women better! After completing my PhD in synthetic biology engineering my team and I began a long journey carrying out years of research into the female microbiome, collaborating with women to understand their needs. After years of development we are excited P.Happi® is now here!”
The serum contains Bdellovibrio bacteriovorus (B.Y.M.® 1405) which exhibits both probiotic properties and the ability to detoxify bad bacteria. It helps maintain a healthy microbial balance by controlling harmful bacteria and serves as a natural antagonist to pathogenic microorganisms.
The serum is now available for purchase through Boots UK and in selected stores. Congratulations Chiara!
