Women in sustainability showcased at Imperial

Imperial innovators and researchers showcased their work at a Women in Sustainability event.

On Thursday 6 March Sustainable Imperial hosted an event during Sustainability Fortnight to mark International Women’s Day. Women at Imperial presented their environmental sustainability work and Grantham Institute’s Undaunted innovator spoke about their green start-up.  

Dr Semra Bakkaloglu, Research Associate in the Department of Chemical Engineering, shared her research in environmental process engineering, life cycle sustainability assessment (LCSA), energy systems modelling, and the quantification, characterisation, and mitigation of methane and hydrogen emissions. 

Marta Koch, PhD candidate at the Centre for Environmental Policy shared her research on how civil engineers worldwide are contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) and how they can further integrate the 2030 Agenda into their work.

Vale Gapsyte, Facilities and Safety Support Officer in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, shared her project during her secondment with the Sustainability Hub where she reviewed useful practices to strive towards comfortable and efficient air conditioning.  

Alina Sartogo, one of our Undaunted innovators is Co-founder of the Wonki Collective. Alina shared how the Wonki Collective is building software that uses AI to help food manufacturers track, manage and reduce food waste across their entire supply chain.
