A class act
1978 Life Sciences graduates have hit upon a unique way of celebrating their 30-year graduation anniversary.
Simon Hills (Biochemistry 1978) and Ela Sawistowska (Microbiology 1978), are encouraging their fellow 1978 alumni to join them in marking three decades since graduation by raising money for a class gift in support of an undergraduate scholarship for a student in the Faculty of Natural Sciences through the College’s Student Opportunities Fund.
The Student Opportunities Fund provides scholarship support for those talented undergraduate and postgraduate students who might otherwise be prevented from studying at Imperial because of financial need. Since its inception in 2003, the fund has provided 139 scholarships for the very best and brightest Imperial students.
By making a donation to the class gift, 1978 Faculty of Natural Sciences graduates are able to specifically direct their gifts to support a future student in the Faculty of Natural Sciences. Furthermore, if cumulatively, the class of 1978 are able to meet the target of £20,000 necessary to support a premium scholarship, it will be named in honour of the ‘Faculty of Natural Sciences 1978’.
Every penny really does count in enabling Simon and Ela to reach their target, and a donation at any level will make a real and tangible impact upon the life of a future Imperial student in the Faculty of Natural Sciences.
