The 16th annual TUCO Chef's Challenge took place on 30 and 31 March in Blackpool and with an impressive ‘clean sweep', the Imperial chefs returned triumphant with the ultimate prize - the Chef's Challenge Gold Award. Competing against 11 other university teams from around the UK, the Imperial team have shown tremendous commitment, enthusiasm and dedication in coming top. They finished their first year in the competition in 2007 as Best Newcomers and just two short years later have achieved what many university chefs only dream of accomplishing throughout their careers. Steve Robertson, Executive Sous Chef, Martin Stafford, Senior Sous Chef and newest member of the team, Andrew Crook, competed together last year and have clearly honed their team work skills to produce four outstanding courses this year winning the top prize of luxury accommodation and dinner at a top class restaurant, the trophy, Gold Medals, Certificate and £900. Huge congratulations to the three hugely talented Imperial chefs who will hopefully be able to perfect their already brilliant cooking skills in their newly refurbished kitchens in the new academic year!
