NPower Energy Challenge 2010!

Now in its fourth year, the npower Energy Challenge is once again bringing together some of the UK's and Germany's brightest undergraduate minds. npower is inviting teams of undergraduates in their penultimate or final year of study of any degree discipline to enter teams of four students and a supporting lecturer into the Challenge. In teams, students will have to develop a solution to the topical question:

‘How should a power generation and supply company respond to climate change?'

It's very easy for teams to enter, all you have to do is register your details and write a 500 word summary on how your team intends to approach the Challenge question. Key dates for students are:

* 26 October 2009:      applications opened
* 01 December 2009:  pre-register your interest in the challenge at energychallenge@groupgti.com
* 22 January 2010:      deadline for entry
* 26 January 2010:      notification whether you have been shortlisted for a UK regional heat
* 16 February 2010:     regional heat one at Didcot Power Station, Oxfordshire
* 18 February 2010:     regional heat two at TSG Ferrybridge near Leeds
* 15 March 2010:         final at Wembley Stadium, London

The winning team will be awarded £1,250 per student as well as £5,000 for the academic department of the sponsoring lecturer. There will also be runner up cash prizes for the second and third placed teams.

The npower Energy Challenge is an invaluable networking opportunity for participants to meet with npower staff from across the UK and Germany. It also adds a practical dimension to participants' studies and the all important commercial awareness so many employers seek. This is a dynamic time to be involved in the energy industry and calls for the finest minds in engineering, science and business.
