PP: Sixth event attracts over 500 students

Imperial College was delighted to be one of seven leading UK Universities to be a partner in the Pure Potential Initiative.

Imperial College hosted one of seven high profile Pure Potential Student Conferences in July 2010 along with LSE, UCL, University of Manchester, Newcastle University, Aston University and the University of Southampton.

The event organiser, Pure Potential, aims to give the brightest sixth form and college students from the state sector, support with University choices and careers paths. The event was supported by 40 of the world's leading graduate employers and organisations including Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, M&S, Allen & Overy, the Civil Service and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

The day was divided into two parts:

University
Talks by Jane Marshall (Widening Participation Manager) and Husain Khaki and Herman Tam (UG medicine students) looked at the decision making process, writing a personal statement, finance and student life

Careers
Workshops looked at what a job area involves, the application process and provided an opportunity to liaise with employers.
