ICB Student receives CCPB US Partnership Awards Travel Bursary

Congratulations to Sarah Rosen who has been awarded a BBSRC bursary to visit Professor Ross Walker at UC San Diego for up to two months.

Congratulations to Sarah Rosen, one of our Institute of Chemical Biology Doctoral Training Centre students, who has been successfully awarded BBSRC funding under the Collaborative Computational Project for Biomolecular Simulation (CCPB) Early-Stage Researcher Short Visits Scheme to visit Professor Ross Walker at the San Diego Supercomputer Centre, part of the Uuiversity of California, San Diego, USA, for up to two months.

During Sarah's time there, she plans to investigate the permeability of the cell membrane to capsaicin and capsaicin derivatives (involved in sensing pain and inflammatory response), using computational methods.

Background information from CCPB:

"CCPB is a recipient of a BBSRC US Partnership Award to set up links with the biomolecular
simulation community in the USA, with the help of the NBCR (National Biomedical
Computational Resource). The purpose of this award is to develop new research links
between research groups in the UK and the USA. The Scheme will fund a single visit for up to
two months in length. The proposal can be in any area of research relevant to Biomolecular
Simulation."

Details of the scheme can be found on the CCPB website.
