EPSRC Pathways to Impact Funding awarded to ICB DTC
£80k funding awarded to ICB DTC for two DTC Den 2010 finalist teams 'anywhere HPLC' and 'KIGO' to exploit commercial potential of novel technologies
The ICB DTC has been awarded £80k of EPSRC Pathways to Impact funding that will allow DTC students to exploit the commercial potential of novel technologies that they have developed during their PhD as well as engage in associated public outreach activities.
These technologies were developed by two teams of students (anywhere HPLC and KIGO) who reached the final of the DTC Den 2010 competition where they were bidding for £20,000 of funding in a live “Dragons’ Den” style event on 30 June 2010. They faced a panel that includes the Chief Executives of the EPSRC, BBSRC and MRC, as well as the Global Head of Research & Development at GE Healthcare and Chief Executive of Genetix Limited. These activities form part of bespoke training courses for ICB DTC students that are designed to develop their entrepreneurship and business skills.
