24 November 2010

Director of the School’s Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Prof Gerry George has been appointed as a non-executive director of the India Infrastructure Finance Company (UK) Limited (IIFC (UK).

IIFC (UK) was set up in 2008 to extend long-term loans in foreign currency to infrastructure projects in India for the importation of capital equipment and machinery. Wholly-owned by the Indian Government, the company concentrates on large-scale transport and power and gas transmission grid projects.

A spokesman for IIFC (UK) said: “Prof George’s academic role involves working on urban infrastructure and energy projects to examine governance and best practices. He has examined major Indian projects including Delhi Metro, Indira Gandhi and Shivaji International Airports in Delhi and Mumbai. Given the academic and professional profile of Prof. George, IIFC (UK) will gain from his varied experience.”
