The first cohorts’ journal club has entered its second phase. The first phase consisted of studying classic papers taking in the foundations of density-functional theory, Monte Carlo techniques, Einstein’s special relativity, the microscopic theory of superconductivity, and Brownian motion to name but a few!
Now they are turning their attention to new topics: Aeneas Wiener began by presenting a recent paper outlining a novel combination of atomic force microscopy and Raman microscopy, and Ola Olalere then presented a surprisingly modern paper on shear flow around a cylinder.
