This hub brings together groups who are investigating the mechanisms underlying generation and maintenance of the lungs through out the lifetime and the processes that lead to degenerative lung diseases such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Our research aims to identify novel treatments to repair or regenerate damaged lung tissue.
Research areas
Regenerative pharmacology
Our research is focused on understanding how bone marrow cells populate and repair tissues in health and disease.
Researchers: Prof Sara Rankin
Lung Development
Studies of how the lungs are formed from their genesis through to adulthood and ageing.
Researchers: Prof Sejal Saglani
Wound repair and fibrosis
Investigations of the mechanisms underlying normal and abnormal repair processes in the lungs.
