BIO

Research Topic: Nano-adsorbents for Fat Recovery from Waste-Streams Supervisors: Dr. Jerry Y. Y. Heng and Dr. Miao Guo Biography Ethan is a MEng Chemical Engineer from the University of Leeds with experience in Service-Led Business Design, Secondary Continuous Pharmaceutical Process Development and Crystallisation Modelling Research. His research focuses on designing nano-particle in collaboration with Scottish Water capable to efficiently capturing Fat, Oil and Grease (FOG) which may otherwise form as 'fatbergs' in waste-water streams. To account for the complexity of real sewer systems his wider interests involve the use of mathematical concepts to improve the understanding of FOG removal performance. This leads to his research involving three main themes: Nanoparticle design via surface modification. Statistical approaches to design of experiment (DoE). Use of mathematical optimisation as a tool for process improvement. Affiliations and Funding Grantham Institute Science and Solutions for a Changing Planet DTP
