Yijun (Esther) Gu

Esther Gu is a PhD student at the Personal Robotics Lab since Jan 2022, fully sponsored by the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Prior to joining the lab, she received her Master’s in Computation Perception and Robotics in Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology, with the thesis topic "Virtual Reality as a Stepping Stone to Real-World Robotic Caregiving". She received her Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree in Computer Science and a second degree in Data Science from the University of Michigan.

Her research interest spans human-robot interaction, force control, multi-modal perception,  robot learning with application.
