There is signficant interest in translating advanced fluorescence imaging techniques such as laser scanning confocal FLIM microscopy from studies of cells in culture to live disease models and to patients.  We have worked with Mauna Kea Technologies to integrate time-correlated single photon counting (TCSPC) with their CellVizioTM confocal endomicroscope platform, publishing the first report of such an instrument in 2008 (DOI: 10.1002/jbio.200910065) and refining it to provide near real-time confocal FLIM of FRET in live cells in 2010 (DOI: 10.1002/cphc.201000874).
