We are applying MDFI to optical projection tomography for the study of biomolecular processes in disease models and for 3-D histopathology.  Our FLIM OPT platform that can provide 3-D absorption and fluorescence intensity and lifetime information in samples ranging from ~1-10 mm in scale.  We have demonstrated the application of this instrument to fixed and chemically cleared samples such as mouse embryos and tissue samples for histopatholgical analysis and to live organisms such as zebrafish.  Descriptions of this instrument can be found in the Journal of Biophotonics (McGinty et al, 2008) and Biomedical Optics Express (McGinty et al, 2011).
