Applying for a fellowship in bioengineering at Imperial
Imperial Bioengineering is able to support several independent postdoctoral/junior group leader fellowships. Dr Ouldridge may be appropriate as a sponsor/mentor.
If you are interested in a postdoctoral fellowship (something you apply to upon or shortly after completing your PhD, such as a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Postdoctoral fellowship), it's a relatively straightforward process for Dr Ouldridge to offer you support if appropriate. Note that Imperial Bioengineering do not currently support the standard Imperial College Research Fellowships, but (at least for now) have been supporting applicants for the AI in science theme (https://www.imperial.ac.uk/ix-ai-in-science/apply/). Please get in contact well ahead of the deadline if you are interested.
Independent fellowships are for people who are ready to start their own groups. Bioengineering does not support all independent fellowship schemes, currently supported fellowships include:
If you are unsure about whether Bioengineering would support a given fellowship, feel free to contact Tom at t.ouldridge@imperial.ac.uk or bg.fellowships@imperial.ac.uk.
The department conducts a single annual interview session for all eligible fellowships to issue host support to the best candidates. Candidates submit a concise Expression of Interest package and are selected for their track record, research vision, and fit for our department (deadline typically around end of February). An ad hoc interview panel with a deep understanding of independent fellowships is organised to assess the application.
More information on the departmental support system for independent fellows and how to apply for host support can be found here.
